Chalean Extreme Review

bowflex_dumbbells

It has been three and a half weeks since I started the workout, so I thought that I would do my first ChaLean Extreme Review.  Overall, I have really enjoyed it, but there are a few things that I am not to crazy about.  I will get my dislikes out of the way first.  I am not to crazy about the warm ups,  I feel like the warms up are very rushed and it does not give you enough time to actually pump blood through your muscles,  and I would like it if there were more stretching after the warm ups, instead of just one hamstring stretch.  However, I understand that I could push pause if I wanted to warm up for a little longer or stretch a little more.  Another thing that bothers me, are some of the people in the video.  I just feel like some of them are faking it, not all of them, just a couple people.  Those are the only two problems I have with the Chalean Extreme Workout, and they are really not that big of a deal.

Now I will talk about the things I do like, and I am just going to start off with the basics.  I like that the workout sessions are only about 35 minutes, with the exception of a couple workouts.  I feel like these workouts fit better in my day and are easier to achieve than the P90x workouts.  I also like the fact that it comes with the sculpting band.  As for the workouts themselves, there are a lot of things I enjoy.  I love all the uses of the dumbbells, I feel like dumbbells are the most underrated piece of workout equipment out there.  Whenever I go to the gym and see people working on these big transformer like machines or even doing bench-presses with a bar, I always think to myself that they could probably be challenged more and see better results if they did more of their workouts with dumbbells.  So I love that Chalean Extreme uses dumbbells.  I also love that Chalene Johnson notices the importance of slow repetitions.  Let use the Gym as an example again,  I see people there trying to whip out reps as fast as possible, because it looks cooler or they can brag to their buddies how many reps they did.  I understand that it is okay to do fast reps, but where I get annoyed is that people do not know how awesome slow reps are for your muscles.  You might not be able to do as many reps, but you will burn more calories and even continue to burn more calories after your workout is over.

Which brings me to the whole philosophy behind the Chalean extreme workout, “Muscles Burns Fat.”  Building “lean muscle” so you can burn away that excess fat.  People do not understand that building muscle does not mean you will look like The Incredible Hulk.  I am glad that Chalene understands that the quickest way to burn fat is to build muscle, and lean muscle.  So far the burn phase has been great at targeting muscles groups like the arms, back, legs and abdominal regions.  Every workout has focused on a full body workout, which if you have the correct weights you can really see some great results.  You need to choose weights that will make your muscles fail by the 10 -12th rep so you can really get everything out of these workouts. The exercises are challenging and fun.  And if I was not such a huge party person, the diet would really not be that hard to stick to.

I will probably do another Chalean Extreme review after I complete the first month or maybe the second month.  Also if you want to check out my daily Chalean Extreme Reviews You can go to http://www.myworkoutreviews.com

  1. I enjoyed your review. I too think ChaLEAN is an excellent program and almost brings one back to the basics with working out…heavy lifting and muscle burns fat. For me, a woman, I was so paranoid that heavy lifting would make me bulky. Clearly not…I’ve leaned out emensely. It’s a matter of proper nutrition and doing the right moves.

I have to agree with the warm up and cool down, although it’s bitter sweet for me, as I’m the type that loves to dive in, get it down and know I worked hard. So I’m all over the 35 min workout. I will say however, I dig P90X as it gave me awesome results. They are a tad longer than I prefer, but still great. There are always going to be annoying people in the videos…but I guess we must look past it. Beats going to the gym, in my opinion.

  2. I love this blog!

I just finished the 90 day portion of the program and have started the lean for life portion. I Love this program. I was considering the P90X but then I found Chalean Extreme and it was exactly what I needed. It is difficlut and pushed me to my max but I was really worried that I would never complete P90X because it was to “JOCK” for me. Chalean is perfect. Couldn’t be happier. I’m 44 years old wearing a size 7 jeans for the first time in my entire life and I feel great!!!!!

Just curious, can I do Chalean Extreme out of the house or must I do it at the gym? I am open to either, looks like P90 x or Power 90 are for in home and others are done at the gym … Response?

Thank you for sharing your insights and experience, I appreciate it!!

Actually Chalean Extreme is an In-home workout program, it comes with 7 different DVD’s that you just play at home. The only thing you need are a set of dumbbells or some resistance bands. I recommend getting dumbbells because I feel that they give you a better workout, than the resistance bands do. I guess you could do the workouts at the gym if you figured out a way to get the workout sessions on an Ipod or something like that.

  7. I have just received my Chalene Extreme Work Out packet. I was just wondering though, I’m such a picky eater, are there anymore recipes that I can get like on the internet?

I just bought that set of dumbbells two days ago when I started P90X. They are amazing. I love them. I need to upgrade my resistance bands though. Nice article.

  9. I loved the site and I just received my chalean videos in the mail and I made the mistake of ordering them off of e-bay and it was sealed and everything and it seems everything was there except the actual 90 day calendar of what to do and when. Can anyone help me out with that? My e-mail is wae2999@yahoo.com

    Thanks….

Yeah, there is no actual calendar. But if you got the “muscle burns fat guidebook” there is a calendar in the book that starts on page 34. Hopefully that helps, if you need anything else for your chalean extreme workouts, check out ultimatefitnessgear.com they are very legit and a lot more reliable than ebay.

  10. I love how short the video is (around 45 min) also, I love CE but during the Ab Burner video, I’ve noticed she does not have the best abs as she did in Turbo Jam, definitely some noticeable and unsightly bulges showing as she crunches. Maybe that’s why she wears a shirt instead of a sports bra as her sister does so as not to show her abs. I’m really surprised – but still love it and she is awesome.

All reviews of this product sound are so positive, Can’t wait to try it.

  12. love chalean extreme. I loved turbo jam and use those workouts instead of the CE cardio and am doing much better with results, especially with abs. I have noticed the turbo jam ab routine gets me much better results than CE. My arms are toned and my thighs are hard as rock. Just moving into the lean phase, the length of the videos makes it possible!

  13. I did the p90x and loved my results but to be honest I found that I was dragging myself to do it because it was so intense, and when I was done with one 3 month round, I found myself making excuses (too hard-too long). With all the push and pull ups I lost what little chest I had which is so not a bonus. I purchased the chalene extreme to kick myself back in and was surprised how different the two programs are since chalene does very slow and methodical for the most part, and no more pull ups…yeahhhh. As a woman I would say this program is more doable for those who have not done intense programs before. I have no doubt that I will see great results with CE as I did with P90, and I will be more likely to keep going if I don’t need a bucket every time I workout. Love love love Tony but I wont have another date with him until chalene kicks my ass back into shape so I can hang with them and on that damn bar.

  14. Question: I already exercise “moderately” to “heavy”. I have already completed P90X and Insanity. I am looking for another at home program. Would Chalean Extreme be a good option or would it be to easy? I have toned everywhere except tummy to my liking. I had a baby 1 year ago and have lost all baby weight and have reached my goal weight but still have tummy to lose.

  15. I am one week from finishing the workout. I didn’t do the diet Chalean described but other than my abs not being a six pack, I have developed muscle definition everywhere else. It’s a good workout; however, Chalean is pretty annoying…it’s a lot like listening to a blond chipmunk chatter on and on. You can tell those are handpicked Chalean friends because they are just as annoying as she is especially that Donna…she and Chalean act like Donna is the only 60 year old on the planet who exercises. The whooping in the background is so fake. You get results but you pay the price in having to listen to Chalean’s constant chatter about nothing and endure her self-centeredness and self-promotion.
